Gute Songs: Boomerang, Cool Out, Zero, Stuck, Love und Born to be yours. Sehr gute Songs: Natural, Bad Liar, Only, Birds.

While casual listeners might be burnt out by Imagine Dragons and its prevalence in pop culture, “Origins” signals a step in the right direction and a return to the aural experimentation the band is known for. The final song in the album lineup, “Real Life,” serves as a finale to the album by wrapping up the generational theme and posing a call-to-action for the listener: to reconnect with reality and “look me in my eye.” Focusing heavily on the desensitization caused by extended use of electronic devices, both songs are heavy-hitting and empowering at the same time. Songs like “Digital” and “Love” serve as both anthems and critiques of the tendencies of Millennials (ages 24 to 38) and Generation Z (ages 6 to 23). The general theme of the album relates itself to the idea of the next generation. This blend of the tone of “Hurt” with the band’s modern sound makes it one of the best songs the band has ever created. “Natural” sounds like an incorporation of Johnny Cash’s “Hurt” cover with the band’s signature sound of alt-rock, blending the styles together to create a song that’s both exciting and depressing.
